There seem to be a large number of overlapping unofficial standards for model documentation. The IAMC wiki, OpenMod, the Open energy platform model factsheets and EC projects, such as PARIS REINFORCE and other projects have all created their own version of model documentation.
As in the world of software, model documentation goes out of date almost as soon as it is written, and it is an unpopular task.
Several people have raised the idea that ECEMF could help facilitate the wider adoption of an existing standard, or create a new standard that is appropriate (and extensible) for the range of models represented in ECEMF - IAMs, energy system models, macro-economic models etc.
What do you think we could do for the European modelling community in this regard?
